ADVICE

Where do I find the required and recommended readings listed in the Reading Schedule?

Most of the required / primary readings and the recommended / secondary readings listed in the Reading Schedule may be found in the books listed above.

Those texts marked with an asterisk (*) ought to be in the Campus Bookshop.  However, please note that lecturers have no control over whether or not the Bookshop orders what we request or when these arrive.   The books listed above may also be purchased from www.amazon.com or other on-line bookstores such as www.BarnesandNoble.com.

Of course, the primary readings are also often found in a variety of sources which you can locate if you diligently search the library catalogue and / or the web.  As I find electronic versions on the web of the readings listed, I will add the relevant hyperlinks to the Reading Schedule.

Please note that only those essays not found in one of the primary sources suggested for purchase and on reserve in the library will be placed in the Course Folder to be found in the Main Library.

Do I have to purchase all the books listed above?

You are not required to purchase all the items listed.  The texts marked with a plus sign (+) are the ones that I would particularly advise you to purchase.

If you are unable or unwilling to own a copy of the required texts, you may wish to photocopy the relevant selections and keep them for future use.

Are any of these books in the library?  Won't the other students grab them before I get there?

R indicates that a single copy of the book in question has been placed on Reserve (Overnight Loan) in the Main Library.  REF indicates that a copy may be found in the Reference Section and, thus, may not be removed.  Additional copies may in most cases also be found in the stacks.

If you make use of the copies on Reserve, you should photocopy the essay(s) in question and return them as soon as possible, rather than keep them overnight, in order to allow as many students as possible to access the limited number of texts available in the library.  You may also need for obvious reasons to photocopy essays found in books from the Reference Section.
